Next Big Future: Stanford, Korean nanofab center, Oregon-based semi startup claim 3D computer chipbreakthrough

    So... These ICs can provide both logic and memory? Does that mean that they would be the next generation CPUs? What sort of speeds are they able to get from these ICs currently? Or is this more of a very basic prototype?

    Also, what is with the new comment system?

    Disqus allows for comment ratings and has some other features. It seemed superior to the blogger comments.

    The 3D chip looks like it is cheap enough to allow for commercialization for some niche applications. But it is several generations back in terms of
    lithography 180 nanometers instead of 45 nanometers of 32 nanometers which are state of the art.

    This will be more than a prototype but it will not broad based impact without a lot more work.
