that is unfortunate. 7 years is a very long time in the world of technology. sounds like they are giving themselves plenty of time to do lots of research without accomplishing anything...

We will have to wait a few more months to see the results of the various AQC performance analysis and actual experimental measurements. Plus there could be some useful problems where AQC can get a useful performance edge (machine learning or the glass problem).
Dwave is still refining their qubits and their system design and scaling up the qubits. So the good news is as that there should be solid progress on AQC performance and performance predictions as more actual experience is gained with these AQC systems.
