Next Big Future: China's Nuclear Energy Target for 2020 is 86 Gigawatts and Wind Energy Targt of 150 GW

    The Chinese are totally serious about their nuclear power program. It certainly helps that they are building almost entirely AP1000 and CPR-1000 reactors. They should climb to the top of the learning curve quickly. I figure by 2040 they are going to be complaining about out CO2 emissions. Here is a good paper on their nuclear program:

    I wonder if they are planning to use their PBMR program to retrofit existing coal plants for nuclear power?

    It's amzing what you can accomplish when you don't have to deal with the NRC or Greenpeace. :-}
